All-on-4 is a dental implant technique that uses four strategically placed implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth, usually for the upper or lower jaw.

Unlike traditional implants that may require 6–8 implants per arch, All-on-4 uses only four implants. It’s less invasive, often avoids bone grafts, and allows for faster recovery and tooth placement.

People who are missing most or all teeth in one jaw and have sufficient bone density (or want to avoid bone grafting) may be good candidates. A consultation and imaging are required to confirm eligibility.

The surgery typically takes about 2–3 hours per arch. In many cases, a temporary set of teeth can be placed the same day.

The procedure is done under local anesthesia or sedation, so patients usually feel no pain during surgery. Some soreness or swelling afterward is normal and manageable with medication.

With proper care, the implants can last decades or even a lifetime. The prosthetic teeth may eventually need to be replaced due to wear.

Yes. The prosthetic teeth are custom-designed to match your facial features, bite, and smile, resulting in a very natural appearance.

Initial recovery usually takes a few days to a week. Most patients resume normal activities within 1–2 weeks, with full healing of the implants over several months.

After a short healing period, you’ll be able to eat most foods comfortably. Once fully healed, All-on-4 allows for nearly the same bite force as natural teeth.

In many cases, yes. A temporary fixed denture is often placed on the same day. The final, permanent teeth are attached after healing.

Daily brushing and flossing, combined with regular dental checkups, are essential. Special brushes and tools may be recommended for effective cleaning.

Often, no. The All-on-4 technique is designed to maximize use of existing bone, even in patients with some bone loss, avoiding the need for grafting in many cases.

Yes, it can be more cost-effective since it uses fewer implants and usually avoids bone grafts, reducing both time and surgical costs.

Permanent prosthetic teeth can be made from high-quality acrylic, zirconia, or porcelain, offering durability and a natural appearance.

Smoking increases the risk of implant failure. While not a complete disqualifier, patients are strongly advised to quit or reduce smoking before and after surgery.

If one implant fails, it may be possible to replace it without removing the entire prosthesis. Your dentist will assess and develop a solution based on the situation.
